Uzbekistan AgroTech / AgroMash Expo 2017Agriculture, Animal husbandry, Food Processing
In May 2017 Uzexpocentre will host 12th Uzbekistan Agrotech Expo and 6th Uzbekistan AgroMash Expo, international specialized exhibitions for machinery, technology and equipment for agricultural and food processing industries. The exhibitions have a long-standing reputation as a platform for establishing cooperation between foreign producers and buyers from Uzbekistan. The event is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan and thus receives full government support.
With the average annual growth rate of 6.9% during the last five years, agriculture remains one the most crucial sector of Uzbekistan’s economy. It is the third largest contributor to country’s GDP (17.2% in 2014) and employs one third of the labour force (28.1% in 2014). The production of raw cotton, a traditionally principal agricultural product, has been decreased from 6 to 3 million tonnes a year and more emphasis is now put on growing crops, fruits and vegetables. Despite the fact that Uzbekistan produces around 16 million tonnes of agricultural products including 12.6 million tonnes of vegetables, this volume is to be doubled by 2020. The government of Uzbekistan is aiming to remove the growth barriers related to the lack of modern machinery, processing and cooling technologies and invest more in modernisation of its agricultural sector in the upcoming year.
