The Exhibition

Dairy Livestock Poultry Expo – Agrofarm India taking place December 9-11, 2021 in Gandhinagar, is an important platform for animal husbandry and agricultural technology in India. The animal husbandry event is jointly organized by the DLG – German Agricultural Society and the Indian exhibition organizer Radeecal Communications.

At the last edition 200 companies from 23 countries showcased their complete range of state-of-the art solutions for animal husbandry and agricultural technologies to 125000 visitors. The show is organised in parallel with the well established exhibition Agri Asia.

The Market

With a population of almost 1.31 billion people and a GDP of about 2.3 trillion USD (2016) India is one of Asia’s most attractive marketplaces. Agriculture employs more than half of the country’s population, most of which are small-scale and subsistence farmers. India is the second largest producer of rice in the world with an expected export volume of over 4 mio. tons in 2017-2018. Apart from rice, the main cash crops are wheat, cotton, cane, turmeric, oilseeds, fruits and vegetables.

Dairy, livestock and poultry in India:

lndia has the world‘s biggest cattle herd with about 512.05 million heads.
lt also provides employment to about 8.8 % of the Indian population, majority of them are women.
lndia is the world´s largest milk producer.
Since its liberalization, the output of Dairy lndustry in lndia is growing at a rate of 5% per annum. Currently, India produces more than 13% of the worlds total milk yet the per capita availability of milk is comparatively low.
Poultry industry, which started as a backyard activity, has now transformed into a well organized, scientifically oriented and technologically driven industry. Today, Indias poul try industry is growing at around 10% per annum.

Why Gujarat?
The growth of the animal husbandry sector has resulted not only in increased milk production but hasalso provided a boostto the overall agro – economyofthe state.

Gujarat holds huge resources of cattle and livestock.
Gujarat stands 4th among milk producing states in lndia.
Gujarat has estimated annual production of 60 million broilers.
Gujarat has produced app. 1455 million eggs in 2013/14.
Gujarat has produced app. 793.000 tons of fish in 2013/14.
