The Exhibition

With more than 650 exhibitors, Expodireto Cotrijal is among the most important open-air events in Brazil. The trade fair was founded in 2000 by the Cotrijal Agricultural and Industrial Cooperative in the city of Não-Me-Toque, one of Brazil’s key agricultural regions, and has become a central meeting point for companies in the fields of agriculture, livestock, and renewable energy.

The exhibition grounds cover more than 130 hectares and are located approximately 276 km northwest of Salgado Filho Airport in Porto Alegre. Each year, over 320,000 professional visitors attend the event to learn about the latest developments in agricultural technology, including:

The Market

Brazil, with an area of 8.5 million km² and a population of 220 million, is the largest, most populous, and economically most significant country in South America.

Brazil is among the world’s leading countries in agricultural production and export. The country is a leader in the production and export of:

• Grains (cultivation on approx. 84.4 million hectares)
• Soybeans (cultivation on approx. 45 million hectares)
• Coffee (cultivation on approx. 2.3 million hectares)
• Beef (160 million hectares of pasture)
• Sugar (sugarcane cultivation on approx. 5.6 million hectares) and
• Orange juice (cultivation on approx. 590,000 hectares).

According to a market study by BMLEH, demand for modern technology is steadily increasing to improve efficiency and optimize productivity. More than half of the tractors used in Brazil are over 15 years old—a clear indication of the high need for modernization. This opens attractive opportunities for German manufacturers. Market access is generally only possible through cooperation with local partners—such as those established at the Expodireto Cotrijal trade fair—or by setting up a local subsidiary in Brazil.

According to BMLEH, the agricultural market is growing by around 4.6% per year, from USD 7.1 billion (2023) to an estimated USD 8.9 billion (2028). The tractor segment is developing particularly dynamically, with growth from USD 1.7 billion (2024) to an estimated USD 2.2 billion (2029). The livestock sector also drives demand for hay and forage technology.
