AgroExpoSiberia 2020

Agriculture, Animal husbandry
from September
online, Russia

The Exhibition

After much deliberation and intensive consultation with the local authorities, the organizers of the international trade fair AgroExpoSiberia, IFWexpo Heidelberg and DLG Rus have decided to hold the event this year as a digital exhibition. The reason for the decision is that the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still spreading in the Russian regions, and the mutual international and, to some extent, national travel restrictions.

We will offer digital alternative to the offline exhibition as of September. The planned forum accompanying the trade fair under the main theme ” Agriculture of Siberia: Present and Future” is also expected to take place online and will complement the virtual fair.

The next edition of AgroExpoSiberia will take place in autumn 2021 and will then again provide an valuable platform for the regional agricultural sector.

The Market

The Altai region is the largest cereal producer in the Russian Federation: the  total agricultural area of the region is 11.6 million hectares which are situated in seven different climate zones. The main fields of arable farming are cereal cultivation, forage production, oilseed cultivation, horticulture and vegetable growing.

In 2018, a third of all Siberian grain was produced in the Altai region – 5.35 million tons. The region accounted for 98% of sunflower seed production in the Siberian administrative district. It is the only region beyond the Urals where sugar beet is grown.

Livestock is also a priority for the agriculture sector of the region. In terms of dairy and beef cattle, the region is among the five largest in the country.

In the region, there are various federal and regional programs to provide support to agricultural producers. The interest of domestic and foreign producers to the region is very high due to its high growth potential and proximity to the countries of Central and Southeast Asia.
