The Republic of Belarus is situated at the Eastern border of the EU adjacent to the markets in Russia and Ukraine. With its 10 million inhabitants the prospering country has an ideal geographic position as a unique link between Western and Eastern economic regions.

With the trade embargo on food products between Russia and EU as well as between Russia and Ukraine, the trading volume between Belarus and the Russian Federation has risen significantly. But existing technologies for food processing are out-of-date. The country requires new solutions in order to improve the processing and transportation of domestic farm products. In summary, the Belarusian market provides excellent opportunities for companies which offer all-in-one solutions: from producing up to packaging.

The Belarusian Government has taken extensive measures to attract foreign investment and privatize companies. Nevertheless, the modernisation of this sector is just at an initial stage and state-owned enterprises have predominated to date. As these are often vertically integrated, there are excellent opportunities for supplying them with complete solutions from manufacturing to packaging.

The Market

The modernization of food industry in Belarus is under way. Tourism, hotel and restaurant industry are being modernized too. According to the direct contribution of tourism and hotel industry to GDP, Belarus belongs to the Top 10 of the fastest growing economies worldwide. However, the country is still in need of hotels, restaurants, road side restaurants, camping sites and youth hostels.
