Why Mexico?
As the world’s largest exporter of agricultural products, Latin America is known as the “world´s pantry”. Mexico is the third largest exporter after Brazil and Argentina with a volume of 32.5 billion US dollars. With 129 million inhabitants and an area of 196 million, Mexico mainly exports avocados, mangoes, lemons, cucumbers, chili peppers and peppers to the USA, Japan and Canada, but also to Germany.
Many large farms in the north are primarily responsible for agricultural exports, while small farms are typical for the center and south – the total number of farms is 4.6 million. In addition to the export products mentioned above, corn, sorghum, beans, wheat and barley are the most popular agricultural plants in Mexico.
Inefficient technical equipment and insufficient innovation lead to a lack of progress in the sector. The demand for agricultural machinery, technologies and agrochemicals from abroad is therefore very high. Digital solutions such as Agrobusiness 4.0, Smart Farming and Precision Farming are also increasingly needed.
