The Market
Uzbekistan, with a population of around 32 million, is the most populous country in Central Asia, and its food industry contributes approximately 13% to the national GDP.
The country’s key agricultural products include cotton, wheat, fruits (such as apples, apricots, peaches, and berries), vegetables (including cucumbers, tomatoes, and potatoes), dairy products, silk, and livestock. In recent years, cotton cultivation has been reduced, freeing up approximately 170,500 hectares of land for the production of potatoes, vegetables, and horticultural crops.
Uzbekistan currently produces around 16 million tons of fruits and vegetables, with projections indicating an increase of an additional 5 million tons by 2030. Products labeled “Made in Uzbekistan” are already exported to more than 80 countries worldwide.
A decree by the Head of State, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at supporting agriculture during the pandemic has contributed to growth in fruit and vegetable production and accelerated the development of the sector. The number of companies operating in this industry continues to increase each year, reflecting its dynamic growth.
