The Market
Argentina is one of the world’s leading agricultural nations, renowned for its impressive production capacity and export strength. With approximately 155 million hectares of agricultural land and a fertile climate, the country offers ideal conditions for crop cultivation and livestock farming. Agriculture is not only a key economic sector but also a major driver of innovation.
The sector contributes around 6.4% to the national GDP and continues to show dynamic growth. In the first quarter of 2025, agricultural GDP rose significantly. Particularly noteworthy is the 2024/25 grain harvest, expected to reach 136.3 million tons – a remarkable 70% increase compared to the previous year. This highlights the sector’s high productivity and adaptability.
Argentina ranks among the top global exporters of soybeans, corn, vegetable oil, and beef. The agri-food industry accounts for roughly two-thirds of the country’s total exports. Major export destinations include the European Union, China, Chile, and the Middle East. Soy plays a central role: Argentina is one of the largest producers worldwide, supplying high-quality products such as soybean meal, oil, and biodiesel – essential for global animal feed and energy markets.
The country is increasingly investing in advanced technologies, including digital control systems, satellite monitoring, and automated machinery. These innovations enable efficient and sustainable farming practices and enhance Argentina’s competitiveness in international markets. The German-Argentine Agricultural Dialogue further supports the development of climate- and environmentally friendly farming solutions.
In addition to crop production, cattle farming is a defining feature of Argentine agriculture. With around 53 million cattle and a high per capita consumption, beef is not only a cultural symbol but also a key export product. The famous Argentine asado stands for quality and tradition – values appreciated by global markets.
Argentina is on a promising economic path. Inflation has been significantly reduced, the country has recorded its first budget surplus in years, and international organizations forecast solid economic growth. Mining and industry are also developing positively, offering attractive investment opportunities supported by targeted incentive programs.
As Latin America’s third-largest industrial nation after Mexico and Brazil, Argentina offers a wide range of opportunities for international cooperation. The combination of natural wealth, technological openness, and economic dynamism makes the country an ideal location for international exhibitors and business partners.
