Deadline for German Pavilion: 05.12.2023

The Exhibition

ExpoAgro is the most important open-air agroindustrial exhibition in Argentina. It is organized by Exponenciar S.A, with Clarín and La Nación as shareholders, the main newspapers in Argentina. It is held once a year, for four days, 225 km far from Buenos Aires, in San Nicolás, in the heart of Argentina, so called “pampas”, the most productive and highly potential region of the country.

Thousands of visitors from Argentina and the world participate in this mega agribusiness meeting, where the latest technology in agricultural machinery is demonstrated in real conditions for contractors, producers and visitors in general.

In addition, ExpoAgro displays the latest technologies in seeds, phytosanitary, livestock and services for the sector.

It is a meeting where all the players in the agribusiness world can update and analyze the most important issues of the agribusiness agenda, with a professional business environment. During four days, buyers, sellers, service companies and institutions, and international business rounds, all together, make ExpoAgro the most expected exhibition of the year.

The Market

With an estimated agricultural area of 155 million hectares and an average annual production of 140 million tons of grain and oilseeds, Argentina’s agriculture could mathematically feed 400 million people. This is almost ten times the population of the country. Argentina thus plays an important role in securing the world’s food supply.

Animal husbandry also plays an important role. With around 53 million cattles and an average consumption of around 50 kg of beef per person per year, beef is an integral part of Argentina’s food culture. Beef is an important economic factor – and Argentina is one of the world’s leading beef nations, accounting for about 5% of global production.

According to GTAI, the “La Niña” weather phenomenon has been affecting harvests in Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay since 2019. In principle, more extreme weather conditions are to be expected in the future. For this reason, farms need to focus more on the use of water – either, because there is a lack of water, or because the risk of flooding is increasing. Also important is the need for soil protection and the preservation of biodiversity. As a result, plant varieties and technologies adapted to this new conditions must be found.

In the future, there will be an increasing need for technologies, machines and equipment for the more efficient use of available resources – e.g. water, fertilizers or herbicides. Digitalisation is also to be driven forward more intensively. Argentina is a pioneer in the use of satellites as well as the digital control and monitoring of harvesting and seeding machines.
